In all likelihood, Patrick McCaw's 2017-18 season is over. But he's pushing to defy odds.
The Warriors guard is on the mend after suffering a lumbosacral bone bruise on March 31 against the Kings. On May 3, the Warriors announced that McCaw is making "steady functional progress" and that he had been cleared for modified on-court shooting and running drills.
The caveat was that he wouldn't be re-evaluated for another four weeks. The NBA Finals begin May 31. The four-week timeframe would put the re-evaluation at June 3. That would be right around Game 2 of the NBA Finals, assuming the Warriors advance that far.

While it might seem unrealistic for McCaw to return during such an important game and series, the second-year guard has made it his goal to play this postseason.
“That is a goal, definitely. I definitely want to be back this season. That is my main goal,” McCaw told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.
McCaw told Spears he hasn't watched the replay of the moment when Vince Carter undercut him on a layup attempt.
“I haven’t seen the video. I don’t really care to see it. I remember it pretty vividly. I was there. I haven’t taken the time to go back to just watch," McCaw said.
Golden State Warriors
On Monday, the Warriors put out their injury report for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Pelicans. McCaw was the only name listed. He's clearly hoping to see his name removed from that list in a few weeks.
