Poll: Draymond Green no longer a Top 5 defensive player in the NBA

Share

It appears Draymond Green isn't very well liked by his fellow NBA players.

On Monday, The Athletic released the results of an anonymous player poll. And the three-time All-Star can't be pleased with some of the main takeaways.

Not only is the three-time NBA champion considered the most overrated player in the NBA (tied with Russell Westbrook), but he isn't even viewed as one of the five best defenders in the league:

1) Kawhi Leonard (30.3%)
2) Paul George (16.2%)
3) Rudy Gobert (14.9%)
4) Patrick Beverley (10.5%)
5) Joel Embiid (4.4%)
6) Jrue Holiday (3.5%)
7) Giannis Antetokounmpo, Draymond Green, Kris Dunn (2.6%)
10) Klay Thompson, Torrey Craig, Mikal Bridges, Marcus Smart (1.7%)
14) Myles Turner; Kyle Lowry; Steven Adams; P.J Tucker; Royce O’Neale; David Nwaba (1%)

So of the 114 players who placed a vote, only three tabbed the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year as the top defensive player.

That is...

...absurd.

Kris Dunn got the same number of votes. That is ridiculous.

While it's true that Draymond hasn't been a dominant defensive force as consistently during the regular season, when he is giving maximum effort (hello playoffs) he is without question one of the Top 2-3 guys on that end of the floor.

On Sunday against the Clippers, he racked up five steals and three blocks.

Furthermore, Draymond came in first place in another category, as nearly 34 percent picked him as the guy who talks the most trash.

Perhaps his peers are holding this against him...
