Quinn Cook's high school coach ‘could not be more proud' after Game 2

Quinn Cook hadn't played more than 20 minutes in a game for the Warriors since April 10 in a regular-season loss to the Grizzlies.

And yet there he was, logging 21 crucial minutes in Game 2 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Raptors. Cook came off the bench and scored nine points, all huge 3-pointers, in a 109-104 win over Toronto to help the Warriors even the series at one game apiece.

"I'm sitting there and I'm watching Quinn -- every shot he took it looked like Quinn Cook at 14, 15 years old back when he was a freshman," Mike Jones, Cook's basketball coach at DeMatha High School, told NBC Sports Washington.

As Steph Curry waited to check into the game with the Warriors leading 95-88 and slightly over eight minutes left in the game, the star guard couldn't contain himself as Cook drained a huge 3-pointer. Curry ran all the way down the other side of the court to chest bump Cook in mid-air.

"The emotion that he [Cook] plays with, just the great teammate that he is ... there's a lot of shots that Quinn could have taken last night, but the culture in Golden State is to move the basketball.

"I could not be more proud of him."

As shooting guard Klay Thompson left early with a hamstring injury, the Warriors turned to their "Strength in Numbers" mantra. Cook embodied the motto in the biggest way, proving he's always ready when called upon.
