Ranking top five teams Warriors fans most want to win 2020 NBA title
5. Miami Heat
Who wouldn't love to see Andre Iguodala get another ring after being a catalyst for the Warriors' dynastic rise?
You could argue the Heat should be higher. Having Miami knock off the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks, after all, could alter the futures of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Giannis Antetokounmpo. But the Heat also reportedly are preparing to make a run at Antetokounmpo next summer, and the Heat knocking off the Bucks en route to winning a title could give them an advantage over the Warriors should Antetokounmpo choose not to sign an extension with the Bucks (he's signing the extension).
Don't give Pat Riley any more ammunition than he already has in his Hall of Fame repertoire.
4. Portland Trail Blazers
East Oakland's own Damian Lillard deserves more than the Trail Blazers have been able to surround him with.
Lillard is one of the few remaining loyal superstars in the NBA -- along with Steph Curry -- and he is proud of his Bay Area roots. Watching Dame and the Blazers go on a magical run at Disney World should be something all NBA fans without a horse in the race cheer for.
Plus, the Blazers are 1-12 against the Warriors in their last three playoff meetings. No bad blood here. It's Dame Time.
3. New Orleans Pelicans
It's possible I have a case of Zion fever that can't be cured, but this one seems like an easy pick.
Watching Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart -- or the artists formerly known as the Baby Lakers -- get the No. 8 seed and knock off
the general manager who traded them ex-teammate LeBron James would be a sight worth hanging in the Louvre. Couple that with a second-round win over, say James Harden and the Houston Rockets, and a conference finals win over the Los Angeles Clippers, and the young Pelicans will have blunted the momentum of all the teams who hope to steal the Warriors' throne atop the Western Conference.
Sprinkle an NBA Finals upset over the Bucks on top and you have a recipe Warriors fans should love.
2. Dallas Mavericks
There aren't many teams in the Western Conference worth rooting for.
So we'll take the same formula we had with the Pelicans, reverse the Clippers and Lakers upsets, add a Seth Curry flavor on top and a side of Luka Doncic being unstoppable and you can sign us up.
#MavsFan4Life, or maybe just for the summer.
1. Boston Celtics
I know, who wants Boston to win another title, right? But hear me out.
The Celtics could cause a lot of chaos by beating both the 76ers and the Bucks, potentially leading to one more multiple star players asking out of those situations.
Plus, while Boston's inhabitants have become nauseating as the titles have piled up, this Celtics team is overall very likable. Jayson Tatum and former Cal standout Jaylen Brown are both rising stars, Kemba Walker has been stuck in misery in Charlotte for eight seasons before moving to Boston, and Gordon Hayward winning a title with Brad Stevens after his horrific ankle dislocation would be a feel-good story.
So, we're all Celtics fans now, right?
