Stan Van Gundy reportedly will not return as the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans after the team finished 31-41 in his first season on the bench.

Van Gundy has also been the head coach of the Detroit Pistons (2014-2018), Orlando Magic (2007-12) and Miami Heat (2003-05), with an overall record of 554-425. The Pelicans finished 11th in the Western Conference this season, two games shy of the play-in tournament.

Teresa Weatherspoon, who served as an assistant under Van Gundy this season, reportedly is expected to be a candidate for the opening. The former WNBA star is one of a few women being considered for NBA head coaching positions, including Becky Hammon.

The Pelicans reportedly will also consider several of the candidates they interviewed last season before selecting Van Gundy.

Other teams who will be looking for new head coaches this offseason include the Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics, Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic.
