It appears there could be even more playoff spots for the Warriors to claim in the 2020-21 NBA regular season.
There will be two play-in series for the final two playoff spots in each conference for next season pending NBA Board of Governors approval, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday morning, citing league sources.

The NBA first experimented with the idea of play-in games for the postseason during the bubble in Orlando, Fla. to conclude last season, with the No. 9 seed in each conference getting a chance to try and win two consecutive games against the No. 8 seed, which just had to win once to remain in the field.

Now with both the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds having to defend their spot in the postseason, we could see as many as 20 NBA playoff teams once the '20-21 season concludes in May.
After five straight runs to the NBA Finals from 2015-19, the Warriors finished the most recent season 15-50 prior to the coronavirus suspension in March, and were in last place in the Western Conference standings.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State certainly would prefer to be among the top six teams in the West and thusly avoid a play-in scenario, but it should at least provide some solace that if the Warriors struggle out of the gate while trying to integrate Klay Thompson and Steph Curry back into action after such a long layoff, there is a much larger margin for error in the regular season to still win enough games to be a playoff team.
