Rockets center Clint Capela doubles down, ‘Yes, I think we are better' than the Warriors

Back in January, Rockets center Clint Capela told the world there's a new top team in basketball.

"We're confident because we know if we're doing what we're supposed to do, we're going to beat them," Capela told ESPN. "We've got to keep playing. We know that they're going to come back if we have the lead, and we've just got to keep that mindset. Sometimes I feel like, in the past, we were all dragging down after mistakes. But today, we were ready. I think that if we're doing what we're supposed to do on defense -- all the switches, the weak side -- and keep playing our offense by keeping that mentality all game long, we have the weapons to beat them.

"We are better than them.”

Now it counts with the Warriors and Rockets squaring off in the Western Conference Finals and Capela isn't changing his mind on who the better team is.

"I believe we have a team capable of winning a championship. So if I think that we can win a championship, then yes, I think we are better," Capela said on Sunday

The basketball world is getting what everyone wants in a Warriors vs. Rockets matchup with the winner punching their ticket to the NBA Finals. And, the fuel to the fire is being lit before the series even starts.

In three games against the Warriors this season -- the Rockets won two of those contests -- Capela averaged 15 points and 6. 3 rebounds per game.

Game 1 starts Monday at 6:00 p.m. PT in Houston. Buckle up, basketball fans.
