Roof leak leads to bizarre delay during Warriors-Mavs Game 4

There aren’t many rain delays in basketball.

But the country watched as the second half of Game 4 of the Western Conference finals between the Warriors and Dallas Mavericks was delayed due to a leak in the roof at American Airlines Center.

Water dripped down near the Warriors’ bench, as arena workers scrambled to cover the court with towels. A couple of workers were given the queasy task of going to the catwalk and fixing the leak on the roof.

Meanwhile, the players lingered on the court and a few Mavericks players even attempted to keep loose by playing soccer with a basketball.

This actually wasn’t the first time that water has fallen from the roof during a Western Conference finals game involving the Warriors. Before Game 5 of the 2018 Western Conference finals against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center, someone apparently spilled a bottle of water from the catwalk onto the court.

This time, it was actual rain, with the Weather Channel forecast for Dallas calling for thunderstorms with 100 percent chance of rain on Tuesday night.

The leak was fixed after roughly 20 minutes, and thankfully, play resumed.
