Steph Curry set social media ablaze during the 2017 NBA Playoffs, as his stepback and drive around Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert became the iconic clip of the Western Conference semifinals.

Gobert joined House of Highlights for an interview, and spoke about how the play unfolded and the ensuing aftermath as he became a viral sensation.

"I was in a blender there, I was in a blender," Gobert told House of Highlights. "I mean I remember that we really didn't want to give up 3s with Steph, he kind of pulled back, I thought he was going to shoot a 3, so I'm ready to contest the shot -- then all of a sudden he snatched back, and then he drives, so I'm ready to contest and then he drives, so I'm like OK I can't give up on the play, so I'm spinning.

"Spin around, try to recover and block the shot, but it was too late."

The play quickly was turned into a number of different memes online, which Gobert said he got a kick out of, although the jokes were at his expense.

"My friends from France and all my people were sending me memes and stuff, I was always laughing, I was enjoying it."

Gobert earned his first NBA All-Defensive First-Team honors for that 2016-17 season, and earned the Defensive Player of the Year in both 2018 and 2019.

Like the interviewer said, everybody gets got at some point.

At least Gobert can take a step back and laugh at how the play unfolded.
