Ryan Rollins' rookie year appears to already be over.
The Warriors' second-round pick from the 2022 NBA Draft will undergo surgery Wednesday for a Jones fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, the team announced Monday morning. An update will be provided following the procedure, however, Rollins is expected to miss the rest of the 2022-23 season.
Rollins, 20, has appeared in 12 games for the Warriors this season, averaging 1.9 points while making seven of his 20 total shot attempts. He scored a career-high seven points on Nov. 4, 2022, in a nine-point loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
While Rollins has seen limited playing time for Golden State, he has played 19 games for the Warriors' G League affiliate. In those 19 games with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Rollins averaged 19.5 points, 3.7 assists and 3.7 rebounds.
After selecting Patrick Baldwin Jr. in the first round of last year's draft, the Warriors then traded the No. 51 overall pick and $2 million to the Atlanta Hawks for the No. 44 overall pick to take Rollins out of Toledo. Unfortunately for him and the Warriors, his right foot has caused him problems since being drafted.
A mandatory physical after the draft revealed Rollins had a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, keeping him out for summer league.

"I really didn’t feel it," Rollins said after his original diagnosis. "They just did a mandatory physical, so I’ve seen on X-rays and whatnot. "I think it’s just a precautionary thing, honestly, but it hasn’t been affecting me."

What was hoped to be a precaution has grown into a larger issue. The Warriors were very high on Rollins going into the draft, and felt it was a steal adding him in the second round. Now, they'll wait and see what his future holds with the franchise.
