Sources: Warriors considering adding Pierce to coaching staff

The Warriors currently have a vacancy on their coaching staff after Jarron Collins left the organization three weeks ago.

And the franchise is considering hiring Lloyd Pierce to assume that role on the front of the bench, sources told NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Poole.

Pierce -- a Bay Area native who was college teammates with Steve Nash at Santa Clara -- was the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks for two-plus seasons before he was fired March 1.

The 45-year-old was an assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers the four seasons prior to getting the job in Atlanta.

Pierce actually was a part of the Warriors' staff during the 2010-11 season, and then left to join the Memphis Grizzlies.
