Steph Curry aiming to return to Warriors on upcoming road trip

OAKLAND -- The Warriors might have Stephen Curry back in the lineup as early as next week.

The superstar point guard has missed eight games and will miss at least two more -- against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday and against the Orlando Magic on Monday -- with a strained groin, but he is expected to begin practicing next week, with the likelihood of playing at some point during the 10-day road trip that begins next Wednesday.

“He’s anxious to get back,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said before the game against the Kings.

Kerr added that Curry is feeling no ill effects from his involvement in a car accident Friday morning in Oakland.

“He is doing fine today,” Kerr said. “He went and played in a little scrimmage [Saturday morning] at the facility. He didn’t report any ancillary stuff from yesterday. He felt pretty good after he got off the floor.”

Curry injured his groin during a Nov. 8 game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He has been receiving daily treatment while rehabilitating under the supervision of Dr. Rick Celebrini, the Warriors' director of sports medicine.

“We’re just going to keep taking it day by day,” Kerr said. “Rick feels very strongly that he’ll play on the road trip.”

In other injury news, forwards Draymond Green and Alfonzo McKinnie remain unavailable for the Warriors. Green, recovering from a sprain of his right big toe, missed the last four games and seven of the last nine. McKinnie missed the last four games with soreness in his left foot.
