Steph Curry, maybe more than anyone, knows what it's like to catch fire in a NBA game. It should take a lot to impress the greater shooter of all time. On Tuesday night, Austin Rivers did just that.
The New York Knicks guard reached a new level of red hot in the Knicks' eventual loss to the Utah Jazz. Rivers scored 25 points while going a perfect 10-for-10 from the field and 5-for-5 from 3-point range in the first half. Curry perfectly summed up Rivers' first half with a tweet while watching the game.
ESPN Stats and Info put Rivers' first half into some eye-popping historic context.
Rivers didn't score another point in the loss. He went 0-for-4 from the field in the second half. Rivers, 28, is averaging 9.5 points per game over 13 games for the Knicks, who surprisingly are the No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference with an 8-11 record.
While Rivers was inactive when the Warriors lost to the Knicks last Thursday, Curry probably will be seeing plenty of Rivers in the future. Curry's brother, Seth, is married to Callie Rivers, Austin's sister.
Curry and Rivers are set to square off next when the Warriors play the Knicks on Feb. 23 at Madison Square Garden.
