Steph Curry to auction game-worn shoes to benefit Oakland fire relief

Golden State Warriors guard and two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry is auctioning off two pairs of specially designed Under Armour Curry 3 shoes that he wore on-court before and during the Warriors game versus the New York Knicks last week to raise money for the Oakland Fire Relief fund.

The auctions – one for the shoes Curry wore during pregame warm-ups and one for his in-game shoes – are being housed on eBay at ebay.com/CurryOaklandStrong and will run for 10 days.

“We were all devastated by the news of this tragedy and the loss of so many young lives right here in our community,” said Curry. “My goal in wearing these shoes was to not only honor the victims that lost their lives that night, but also to raise awareness for the relief efforts that are underway.  Hopefully through this auction we can help further assist with those efforts.”

The custom shoe designs, which pay respect to the victims of the Ghost Ship warehouse fire that claimed a total of 36 lives earlier this month, are one-of-a-kind originals that were created by DezCustomz and KreativeCustomKicks as commissioned by Curry in partnership with Under Armour. Details of the size 12.5 shoes include:

•    The pregame “Ghost Ship” shoes are a pair of player exclusive gray Curry 3 low tops that feature the words “GHOST SHIP” in vibrant graffiti-style script down the side of each shoe, and the initials of the fire victims on both shoes. Additionally, the words “ALWAYS REMEMBER” appear on the bottom of both shoes.  The shoes were also personally autographed by Stephen Curry before being put up for auction.

•    The in-game “Oakland Strong” shoes are a pair of Curry 3 high tops in the “Raw Sugar” colorway that features the graffiti-style words “OAKLAND” down the side of the left shoe and “STRONG” down the side of the right shoe in Golden State’s yellow and blue colors.  On the backs of the shoes are the words “ALWAYS” on the left shoe and “REMEMBER” on the right.  Additionally, the initials of the fire victims appear on each shoe, as do the words “GHOST SHIP” on the bottom of both shoes.  The shoes were also personally autographed by Stephen Curry before being put up for auction.

All of the proceeds from this charity auction will go to the Oakland Fire Relief fund that has been established on YouCaring.com to assist victims and families of the devastating fire. In addition to proceeds raised from this auction, Under Armour is also committing $25,000 donation to the fund. Previously, the Golden State Warriors organization pledged a $50,000 donation to the fund, and the team’s players and coaches pledged an additional $75,000.

Warriors set multiple franchise records in first quarter against Nuggets

The Warriors shot 7-of-29 from 3-point range in their road loss to the Denver Nuggets back on Oct. 21.

They fared much better Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center -- in the first quarter alone.

The Warriors set multiple new franchise records against the Nuggets Tuesday in a blistering first quarter that came to a close with the Dubs leading 51-38.

Golden State shot 10-of-14 from beyond the arc in the opening quarter, establishing a new franchise record for the most 3-pointers in a single quarter. Additionally, the 51 points were the most the Warriors have ever scored in the first quarter.

Stephen Curry led the way with four treys, while Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant each added three apiece.

The Warriors entered the game with the fourth-best 3-point shooting percentage in the league, and may be moving even further up that list after the first quarter Tuesday night.

The Warriors carry their four-game winning streak into a road matchup with the Denver Nuggets Tuesday night, with first place in the West on the line.

Golden State (29-14) has been playing some of their best basketball of the season as of late, as a victory against the Nuggets would give the Warriors their second-longest winning streak of the year, and first of at least five games since the beginning of November.

Denver (29-13) has been arguably the biggest surprise in the NBA this season, as they've withstood numerous significant injuries while maintaining the top record in the Western Conference. They defeated the Warriors in their only prior matchup this season, a 100-98 Nuggets victory in the third game of the 2018-19 campaign.
