Steph joins three Warriors icons with 6,000 field goals

Soon enough, Steph Curry will hold just about every notable record in Warriors franchise history.

But in several categories, Curry still is chasing some franchise icons, like field goals made.

With his first bucket Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets at Chase Center, Curry notched his 6,000th career regular season field goal.

While 6,000 is a lot, Curry remains behind Chris Mullin (6,150), Rick Barry (6,466) and Wilt Chamberlain (7,216) for the most in franchise history.

Curry made 5-of-9 from the field in the first half for 13 points Friday, helping the Warriors take a 66-51 lead over the Hornets into halftime.

He finished with 29 points as the Warriors rolled to a 130-121 win.

Needing just over 1,200 field goals to pass Chamberlain, Curry should get there early in the 2021-22 NBA season, assuming he stays healthy.

Curry also is closing in on franchise records for most career points and assists. He should pass Chamberlain in points (17,783) and Guy Rodgers in assists (4,855) in the coming weeks.

Mullin holds the franchise record for most steals (1,360) and Curry (1,244) could get there in the next season or two.

When it's all said and done, Curry will own all the records and go down as the greatest player to put on a Warriors uniform.
