Steph Curry better at home during the NBA Finals? The numbers may surprise you

Share

Steph Curry has played in 20 NBA Finals games in his career.

He's been superior at Oracle Arena compared to his play at Quicken Loans Arena, right?

The numbers say otherwise:

-12 home games -- 25.8 points, 42.9 percent overall, 38.4 percent from deep
-8 road games -- 25.1 points, 43.2 percent overall, 44 percent from deep

There's been some chatter over the last couple of days about how Curry has fared better vs the Cavs in the games in Oakland.

This perception may exist because:

-Curry threw his mouthpiece in Game 6 in 2016 and was ejected
-Curry only scored 15 points on Christmas Day in 2016
-Kevin Durant stole the show in Game 3 last year
-Curry scored just 14 points in Game 4 last year

On Tuesday, the two-time MVP was asked for an assessment of his performance in Cleveland during the Finals.

"Going back to each game -- I think I played solidly," Curry answered. "Hopefully raise my level up this year ... we understand how hard it is to win in this building. No matter what's going on in the series -- when you change venues, you gotta reassert your dominance and try to find that right momentum to start.

"We have a great opportunity tomorrow to do that and I want to be a part of leading that charge and playing an amazing game and really taking control of the series."

Keep in mind -- the home stats definitely take a hit because in Game 2 of the 2015 Finals, Curry went 5-for-23 from the field, including 2-for-15 from deep...
