Steph congratulates Dame after 3-point contest victory

Steph Curry is giving Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard his flowers after the latter won the 2023 NBA 3-Point Contest on Saturday in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Though the Warriors star is not participating in the All-Star Weekend festivities due to a lower leg injury, Curry certainly was tuned into the events and promptly congratulated Lillard on his win.

Scoring 26 points in the first round to advance to the final, Lillard scored another 26 in the championship round, edging out Indiana Pacers guards Buddy Hield (25) and Tyrese Haliburton (17).

Saturday night's win marked the first time the 32-year-old won the competition, entering it in 2014 and 2019, though he failed to advance past the first round in his other appearances.

Lillard told NBA on TNT analyst Adam Lefkoe that he plans on retiring from the event, now that he has finally won the competition.

That is similar to what Curry did as after he won his second 3-point contest in 2021 -- which he dedicated to fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson -- formally retiring from the event as he had competed in it a whopping seven times throughout his career.

With Lillard announcing that he is retiring from future 3-point competitions, it remains to be seen which player can live up to the standard he and Curry have set.

However, there's no doubt that whoever it is, Curry and Lillard will be watching and ready to give them their well-deserved flowers as well.
