Steph believes Draymond's All-Star nod proves he changed game

Draymond Green has to be one of the most unique players in NBA history.

The four-time All-Star, three-time NBA champion and 2016-17 Defensive Player of the Year has established himself as one of the league's best defenders and a facilitator on offense for the Warriors.

Recently chosen for the 2022 NBA All-Star Game as a reserve, Green continues to be recognized as one of the game's best despite not putting up eye-popping numbers similar to other All-Stars.

Steph Curry joined NBC Sports Bay Area's Grant Liffmann on the latest episode of Dubs Talk, where he discussed why Draymond is deserving of the nod and what he brings to the court on a nightly basis.

"It just changes the narrative on what really impacts winning and how it looks," Curry said. "It'll pay to think about it differently. I was telling him, he's an All-Star for the fourth time. Deservedly so, he's been through a rough last two years in terms of different injuries he's dealing with, changing of the guard in terms of newcomers and all the gaps we had to fill as we try and get back to this level.

"But for him, nobody with his stat line is even considering an All-Star appearance. If you're just staring at it, then you're missing the entire point of who he is as a basketball player. When you watch our games and you see the way he impacts the defensive end, his creativity, his consistency, seeing everything two steps ahead. It's just so fun to be out there watching, personally, to be a part of a team with everything we've gone through. I don't know how many people could do what he does, that says a lot about what he's made himself to be coming from where he came from out of Michigan State."

Green has not played since January 5 against the Dallas Mavericks, sidelined by a disc injury in his back. He will not play in the All-Star Game, but nevertheless, the recognition is still important.

Since Draymond's absence, Golden State is 12-5 and continues to find ways to win, even without one of the most important players in the league. He hopes to return sometime after the All-Star break and when he does, a healthy Warriors squad should be fully loaded for another championship run this summer.
