Steph gives three ways Draymond will immediately help Warriors

Draymond Green and Steph Curry

The Warriors will get their heart and soul back Friday night just in time for a crucial homestand.

Draymond Green will make his season debut when the Warriors host the Portland Trail Blazers at Chase Center. Green missed the season-opening four-game road trip with a mild muscle strain in his right foot.

Green's return will allow the Warriors to get their first true look at what they can be this season, and Steph Curry knows exactly what his running mate will bring to the table.

"The things he does well, you’ll feel right away. Energy, effort, communication," Curry told reporters after shootaround Friday.

The first two are contagious and the third is much-needed for the Warriors after struggling defensively through the first four games, giving up an NBA-worst 124.2 points per contest.

Green will get everyone organized and be vocal about any and all miscues from the jump. That will benefit the Warriors while they still try to find their footing early on this season.

Green's return also should bolster a frontcourt that has been beat hard on the glass after Marquese Chriss suffered a season-ending broken leg.

The Warriors will begin a seven-game homestand Friday that will show them where they stand in the Western Conference. Green rejoining the lineup should give them a much better chance of exiting it with their heads above water.
