Steph, JP offer perfect responses to free-throw supremacy debate

Jordan Poole narrowly edged Steph Curry for the best free-throw percentage this season. But with the Warriors fully healthy in the playoffs, it's a given that Curry, the greatest shooter in NBA history, will shoot the technical free throws for Golden State.

But Poole, who never has lacked confidence, went right to the free-throw line Monday during the Warriors' Game 2 win over the Denver Nuggets to try to take the first technical free throw of the night for Golden State. Curry ended up taking the shot and two more. While Curry knocked down the first one, he missed the next two which led to a fun postgame back-and-forth between him and Poole.

"Never," Curry said after the game when asked when Poole would shoot the technicals. "Never. Even if I miss 10 in a row, you see me right there.

"I like that healthy competition because obviously I know he edged me out in the season-long race. He set high standards for shooting free throws. Yeah, it's going to take a lot more than one free-throw champ to get me off that line for the techs."

As for Poole, the third-year guard has learned quickly that no answer, is often the right answer.

"No comment," Poole said laughing when asked by TNT postgame who would take the next tech.

After once again smoldering the Nuggets on Monday, the Warriors were all smiles and jokes as they head to Denver for Game 3.

Poole was tremendous from the charity stripe this season, but Curry is the greatest shooter to ever walk the planet. If he's on the floor, he'll be the one stepping up to the line. Poole is a tremendous Plan B, though.
