Steph more nervous for pro golf tournament than big NBA games

Steph Curry has played in 112 NBA playoff games during his 11-year career. Twenty-eight of those were NBA Finals games, including a Game 7 at the end of the 73-win season.

But according to the Warriors star, none of those games compare to the nervousness he felt while competing in the 2017 and 2018 Ellie Mae Classic golf tournaments.

"I've played in NBA Finals, I've played in world championships and played with Team USA," Curry recently told Bleacher Report's Adam Kramer. "I've played in a lot of big games. There is no comparison to how nervous I was on the first tee, standing there with other professionals, trying to compete."

Before training camp for the upcoming 2020-21 NBA season begins next week, Curry will use his downtime to participate in "The Match" Champions for Change" on Friday. The two-time NBA MVP will team up with former NFL star Peyton Manning to take on PGA superstar Phil Mickelson and Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.

While Curry won't be the worst of the four golfers on the course in Arizona -- that distinction likely goes to Barkley -- he likely will be nervous playing in front of a national audience. His dabbles in the Ellie Mae Classic and the American Century Championship Pro-Am in Lake Tahoe were watched in-person by limited audiences.

Now, Curry's golf game will be under a microscope. He has game, but does he have enough to hang with Mickelson, a five-time Major champion?

Former Warriors teammate Andre Iguodala suggested that Curry's golf game isn't trending in the right direction. If that indeed is the case, Curry could be in trouble Friday.

But Warriors fans have watched Curry rise to the occasion time after time, so they will expect nothing less from the three-time NBA champion.
