Steph's advice to young Warriors teammates ahead of Finals

Steph Curry is no stranger to the global stage of the NBA Finals. He's been there five times to be exact.

So on Monday afternoon, Curry shared the advice he has for his young Warriors teammates who are preparing to fight for their first NBA championship against the Boston Celtics, beginning with Game 1 at Chase Center on Thursday.

"Biggest thing is the chaos around and in between games," Curry said, comparing the Finals to other playoff rounds. "Practice schedules are different. There’s a lot more attention. Obviously, you have to adapt to the different flow of the day as you get ready for games.

"But my advice, at the end of the day, once the ball drops you might have a little nerves those first six minutes, first quarter. But you settle in pretty quick, and then it’s just basketball."

Golden State rookie Moses Moody celebrated his 20th birthday on Tuesday, so the Warriors are down to just one teenager on their roster in 19-year-old Jonathan Kuminga. But 22-year-old Jordan Poole and even 27-year-old veteran Andrew Wiggins, both preparing for their first Finals, are likely all ears when it comes to Curry's advice.

"You don’t have to do anything different than what you’ve been doing," Curry continued. "But it's also the importance of every possession, fighting through fatigue, fighting through the nerves, the adrenaline. Fighting through some failures if you have some, because everybody’s going to be important.

"Just to stay ready, too, because the way playoff series go -- and especially the way that we play -- things can change really quickly in terms of who’s in the rotation, who’s getting minutes, who’s getting opportunities. We’re going to need everybody to get four more wins."
