Draymond Green’s mentions on Twitter were a dangerous place to be in late March.
On March 23, the Warriors forward went on his podcast “The Draymond Green Show” and, in an effort to recognize greatness, claimed that he would skip one of Golden State’s regular-season games next season to be in attendance for when Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James breaks the all-time NBA scoring record, currently held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The internet reacted in a calm, collected manner to those comments. Or … not.

When the podcast went live, the Warriors were in the midst of an ugly 1-7 stretch. Draymond played in six of those games and averaged just 4.5 points on 33.3 percent shooting in that span.
More than a few keyboard experts were quick to forget that Draymond was working his way back from an injury and instead claimed the four-time All-Star had his priorities out of whack.
Although his comments made waves across NBA Twitter, Draymond never discussed it with his teammate Steph Curry. That is, until earlier this week when Steph appeared as a guest on Draymond’s podcast.
“I actually didn’t think anything of it,” Draymond said of his bold statement. “I didn’t think anything of it until we’re in Memphis that week on the day of that game, and [Warriors general manager] Bob [Myers] calls me earlier in the day and we’re just talking. And he’s like, ‘Hey, now help me understand. When you say something like that … do you just not care what people think? Not care what your teammates think?’ And he laid out all these other things that it possibly could be.

“If someone is that dumb, Bob, to think, ‘Wow, he’s actually going to miss his game’ -- if someone’s that dumb, that’s not my fault,” Draymond continued. “That’s not my problem.”
Draymond went on to ask Steph about his reaction when he saw his teammate's comments trending.
“I knew if that situation happened next year, there’s no way you’d walk up to me, Klay [Thompson], Andre [Iguodala], coach [Steve] Kerr and [be] like, ‘Yo, I’m doing this,’” Curry laughed. “So that’s why I didn’t hit you about it. I knew it was a way of expressing how amazing that accomplishment and feat is, and you respect LeBron.”

“It might be two games [missed] because he might s—t the bed one game,” Draymond butted in, laughing.
As most people realized, Draymond's comments were made all in good fun. Although LeBron might be wearing a Draymond jersey while watching the Warriors battle in the 2022 playoffs from his couch.
