Steph discusses Warriors' ‘fluid' NBA draft, offseason plans

The Warriors very much plan on being a legitimate championship contender in 2021-22.

In order to make that a reality, they need to bolster the roster this offseason.

It sure is nice to possess the rights to the No. 7 and No. 14 overall picks in the 2021 NBA Draft.

And it certainly will be great to get Klay Thompson back after the five-time All-Star missed the last two seasons.

"It's a great position to be in," Steph Curry said Thursday from the American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. "We do have a lot to work with with potential picks, guys coming back [and] hopefully enticing some free agents to come out to the Bay and be a part of a winning organization.

"I feel like everything's on the table at this point. I know nothing really happens until after the [NBA] Finals and you really get down to, 'What are we really trying to do? What do we need?' I know we're staying patient."

Steph is an integral part of the franchise's decision-making process. And in case you are curious -- yes, he has been in touch with Golden State brass.

"I talked to Bob [Myers], I've talked to Joe [Lacob], I've talked to coach [Steve] Kerr over the last couple weeks," Steph said. "Things are fluid -- let's put it that way.

"It's just a matter of trying to put the best team out there. And I know we're all committed to doing that. The Finals are still going on so there's still time to figure that out."

There definitely is a chance the Warriors trade one or both of their lottery picks.

But that only will happen if Golden State really likes whatever they would be getting in return.

And you can't rule out the Dubs selecting two players and keeping them.

Things are a little quiet on the rumor front right now as teams gather intel and work out prospects.

But the action definitely will heat up as we get closer to the July 29 draft.
