Kerr admits mistake playing Iguodala so much vs. Pacers

Andre Iguodala will miss his fourth straight game as the Warriors take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at Chase Center on Thursday night, and it will mark the 24th game he has missed this season.

The veteran forward is listed as out due to left hip injury management, and with Draymond Green also dealing with calf soreness and a disc issue in his lower back, the Warriors are missing two of their on-court leaders.

Iguodala last took the court in the Warriors' stunning overtime loss to the shorthanded Indiana Pacers on Jan. 20. He played just over 31 minutes and finished with four points, five rebounds, four assists, four blocks and was a plus-16.

Prior to the Warriors' game against the Timberwolves, coach Steve Kerr told reporters that he doesn't expect Iguodala to play against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday and that he's hopeful the soon-to-be 38-year-old can return either Monday in Houston or Tuesday in San Antonio.

But Kerr also acknowledged two things: Iguodala missing this much time was to be expected and he shouldn't have played so much against the Pacers.

"When we signed Andre this year, we knew that the regular season would be filled with rest nights and if he was banged up, we're were going to hold him out," Kerr said. "We were going to be very conservative because we'll need him in the playoffs. This was all part of the plan.

"Looking back, I made a mistake playing him 31 minutes against Indiana. I'd like to avoid that. I think that was too many. But all-in-all, we're going to handle the regular season with caution and hopefully have him ready to be a consistent presence in the playoffs."

The Warriors currently have the second-best record in the NBA (35-13) entering Thursday's game and they know April, May and June are the months that really matter. As long as Iguodala is healthy for the playoffs, no one will remember that he missed most of a homestand in January.
