Kerr details many meaningful aspects of Warriors' season

The Warriors back on May 4 lost in disappointing fashion to the New Orleans Pelicans to fall to 33-33 on the season.

But they finished strong by rattling off six straight victories at Chase Center to secure the No. 8 seed in the play-in tournament.

"It's [been] a totally different kind of season," Steve Kerr told the media Tuesday afternoon. "And so you celebrate the smaller victories in a season like this. I think that's really healthy. When you go five straight years of 'win the championship or bust,' it's incredibly stressful. It's exciting and you wouldn't want it any other way, but it adds up.

"And so I think this year has been refreshing in a lot of ways. It's been a really meaningful season for our franchise in a lot of ways. I think our fans have really enjoyed watching our young guys grow, watching our team evolve.

"I think our players have expanded. Draymond [Green] is playing as well as he's ever played [and] so is Steph [Curry]. Andrew Wiggins has found a great role with this team and has played at a high level. Kevon Looney is healthy again.

"You got all these young guys who have seized their opportunities. This is all great stuff. It's so healthy for our organization. And within that, you celebrate these victories [and] you celebrate the successes because you're not in a position where if you lose everybody says you're season was a failure.

"It brings a different perspective."

And this is great perspective from Kerr, who has experienced just about everything in the NBA.

It's also fair to say that we can't fully evaluate the 2020-21 campaign until we see what happens against the Los Angeles Lakers and beyond.

How the Warriors fare this week -- and what they do in the playoffs should they advance through the play-in round -- almost assuredly will impact how we view the year at the macro level.

For the time being, let's just hope we get an extremely competitive game at Staples Center on Wednesday night.
