How Kerr and Myers communicate during NBA trade deadline

While the NBA trade deadline has many furiously scrolling through Twitter or refreshing websites to get the latest news, Steve Kerr isn't burning up Bob Myers' phone lines to hear the latest on the conversations the Warriors are having.

"I don't call Bob, I let him call me," Kerr told reporters Wednesday about the Warriors' trade deadline communication. "If he has something important to say then he's going to give me a call and he did not call me today."

With the deadline set for Noon PT on Thursday, the Warriors have been connected to a number of available players, including Aaron Gordon, Victor Oladipo and Bogdan Bogdanovic. However, at the moment nothing appears imminent on Golden State's front.

The Warriors reportedly are looking around for offers for swingman Kelly Oubre Jr., but have not yet received any proposals that would cause them to move the 25-year-old wing. Oubre is set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. While he has said he can see a future with the Warriors, Oubre is expected to earn a contract that pays him around $20 million a season and could be looking to play for a team that will allow him to have a more central scoring role.

With the Warriors set to operate above the cap for the foreseeable future, losing Oubre for nothing would be a tough blow. If the Warriors do trade Oubre, it likely will be for a player like Bogdanovic who is under contract for three more seasons after this one.

The Warriors are trying to find a way to reload the roster for a true championship run next season without sacrificing James Wiseman and the Minnesota Timberwolves' 2021 top-three protected first-round pick. The Warriors view Wiseman and the player they'll select with the T'Wolves' pick as two key building blocks to a post-Steph Curry dynasty.

With the play-in tournament bringing more teams into the playoff picture, the trade deadline could be slower than in years past.

Nothing changes for Kerr, though. He'll just wait for a call as the deadline nears.
