Kerr dissects growth of Poole as 'fantastic shooter' for Dubs

It hasn't always been pretty, it hasn't always been perfect but Jordan Poole's game just keeps growing in his third year with the Warriors.

From his offseason work to his preseason play on the court, Poole clearly was ready to make the leap this season. His last two games highlight just how important that leap is.

With Steph Curry out for the Warriors' win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday, and the two-time NBA MVP scoring a season-low 12 points in their win Sunday against the Toronto Raptors, it was Poole who scored points in bunches for Golden State. Over the Warriors' last two games, both wins, Poole has put up 55 combined points on 65.7 percent shooting from the field.

As his confidence grows within, so does coach Steve Kerr's when it comes to the former first-round pick.

"Really high," Kerr said about his confidence in Poole's shot Sunday after the Warriors' 119-104 win vs. Raptors. "He's worked so hard on it. I think the challenge this year is kind of the next step of his evolution, which is to figure out what's a good shot. Being aggressive but without forcing.

"I think the last few games he's got much better in terms of his shot selection. Just taking the ones that are there and not launching tough ones."

Prior to the Warriors' previous two games, Poole was going through rough stretch from long distance. Over seven games, from Nov. 7 through Nov. 11, he made only 21.1 percent of his 3-point attempts. That changed the last two games, in major ways.

Poole went 4-for-8 from deep against Detroit, and then made a career-high eight 3-pointers on 11 attempts against Toronto.

"Tonight, out of his 11 3s, I don't remember one that wasn't open and balanced," Kerr said. "When he's taking good ones, he's a fantastic shooter."

Though Poole isn't one to lose confidence, to see his head coach just as confident in him is a huge step forward for the red-hot Warriors.
