Steve Kerr believes the Warriors still are capable of repeating as NBA champions despite an underwhelming first half of the 2022-23 season.
That might be hard to believe after watching Golden State's 134-117 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night at Ball Arena.
Kerr joined 95.7 The Game's "Damon & Ratto" on Friday, where he was asked if he believes the Warriors (26-26) have enough talent to defend their 2021-22 championship.
"I still believe that we can do this. And I tell the players that almost every day and it's authentic," Kerr said. "We do have things we gotta improve on and we're down to 30 games left in the season, so we need to take those steps now. But I still feel like we can do it. I think our team is not afraid of anybody. I think given our experience and our history in the playoffs, our guys have a ton of confidence.
"We gotta do a better job, especially closing games. Overall, just in general, the coaching staff too. We've gotta settle on some rotations and figure out exactly how we're going to put this puzzle together the best way that we can because it's still not clear. While that is concerning, I still believe that it can be done."

Although the Warriors, by Kerr and the team's standards, have greatly underperformed this season, Golden State still has a shot at claiming one of the top seeds in a very tight Western Conference. Kerr is confident that his team has enough talent, and playoff experience to defend their championship.

"100 percent. That is absolutely something I believe and that's what we're working on, that's the plan," Kerr added.
