Klay Thompson has been called many things in his NBA career, but soft definitely isn’t one of them.

The Warriors swingman has been known for his tenacity throughout his career, and his reaction to suffering a torn ACL during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals perfectly exemplifies that.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers was on 95.7 The Game on Tuesday, and gave a hilarious recounting of the moments after Klay was taken to the locker room with teammates supporting his every step.

“He was in the backroom, and somebody ran out, one of the assistant coaches and says, ‘You can’t go back into the game unless you shoot your free throws,’ ” Myers said. “We didn’t really know what was going on, so we walked back out, and then the fans go crazy. It was unbelievable. It was probably my favorite moment on the job.”

Myers also joked about imploring Thompson to simply shoot the free throws and then stay there until he could be subbed back out of the game.

“He said, ‘I’m shooting the free throws,’ so I grab Klay,” Myers told 95.7 The Game. “I said, ‘Listen, shoot the free throws, do not run back on defense. Just shoot the free throws and stay there.’ He shoots the free throws, and he runs back [laughter].”

The story simply sums up Thompson’s demeanor, as No. 11 always has marched to the beat of his own drum.

I mean come on, not many players get an entire Reddit page dedicated to simply chronicling their life on and off the court.

Although Klay has expressed a desire to expedite his return to the Warriors’ lineup, his father, Mychel, recently said the 29-year-old will return later on in the 2019-20 season.
