Warriors' Bogut set for surgery; should be fine for opener

SAN DIEGO -– Warriors center Andrew Bogut is scheduled to undergo a procedure Monday that will reset his broken nose, the Warriors announced Saturday.

Assuming the surgery is successful, Bogut could return later in the week and surely well in advance of the regular season opener on Oct. 27 at Oracle Arena.

The seven-foot center sustained the injury in the second quarter of a 123-101 victory over Houston Thursday night. His nose took the brunt of a forearm from Rockets guard K.J. McDaniels, with Bogut falling to the floor.

Bogut said after the game that he was unable to breathe out of his right nostril, an issue that should be fully corrected with the surgery. He also anticipates wearing a fitted mask, at least for a few weeks, upon his return.

This was, by Bogut’s count, the fourth time his nose has been broken.
