Warriors center Damian Jones starts vs. Trail Blazers in Game 3

A few days ago, Damian Jones played in his first game since Dec. 1.

On Saturday, in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals in Portland, he made his first start since that same fateful night when he suffered a torn left pectoral muscle.

That's right, Jones started at center for the Warriors against the Trail Blazers, as NBC Sports Bay Area's Logan Murdock reported prior to the start of Game 3.

The Blazers countered with Meyers Leonard.

Jones had played just over three total minutes over the first two games of the series, converting his only attempted field goal and hauling in two rebounds.

"He's been working unbelievably hard, and he's such a great kid," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Jones following Game 2. "So, it's nice to see DJ back on the floor."

Jones didn't last long in his first start in six months, as he picked up three personal fouls within the first three minutes of the contest before being replaced by Kevon Looney. Still, it was a well-deserved opportunity for someone who has endured more than his fair share of poor injury luck throughout his young NBA career.
