The Warriors had two open roster spots. Now they have one.

Golden State claimed guard Jeff Dowtin off waivers on Monday and converted his contract to a two-way deal. Dowtin joins guard Chris Chiozza as the Warriors' two players on two-way contracts for the 2021-22 season.

Dowtin, 24, spent the preseason with the Orlando Magic, where he averaged 4.7 points and 1.3 assists in 8.7 minutes per contest across three games. He hit the game-winning shot in the final seconds in Orlando's preseason finale.

In Summer League, Dowtin played for the Warriors in the California Classic, averaging 17.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in two games on 65.0 percent shooting from the field. Unselected in the 2020 NBA Draft, the 6-foot-3 guard spent the 2020-21 season with the Lakeland Magic, helping the club to the 2021 NBA G League championship.

As a two-way player, Dowtin can be on the Warriors' active list for no more than 50 games during the regular season. He will split his time between Golden State and the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League.

The Warriors' roster now stands at 16 players, including both Dowtin and Chiozza. They still have the ability to add one more player to the roster on a standard NBA contract, if they so choose.

Golden State opens the 2021-22 season Tuesday night in Los Angeles against the Lakers.
