Warriors clinch play-in spot after Pelicans lose to Grizzlies

We will start with the good news.

The New Orleans Pelicans lost Monday evening, which means the Warriors have clinched a spot in the play-in tournament.

Now for the bad news.

The team that beat the Pelicans was the Memphis Grizzlies, who have moved into a tie with the Warriors for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.

But both teams won't be 35-33 for long, as Golden State currently is playing the Utah Jazz at Chase Center.

So the Warriors will end the night either 0.5 games ahead of the Grizzlies, or 0.5 games behind the Grizzlies.

Golden State and Memphis will do battle on the final day of the regular season. And it's very possible that the winner of Sunday's showdown will secure the No. 8 seed in the play-in.
