Warriors' D'Angelo Russell comfortable with rumors as NBA trade deadline nears

From the moment he signed with the Warriors, D'Angelo Russell has been the subject of trade rumors. Now, as Thursday's trade deadline looms, he says he isn't concerned about where he'll play.

"I'm comfortable with being uncomfortable right now and this," he told reporters in Brooklyn following Tuesday's practice. "In my profession, this time of my career, a lot of teams they want a point guard and I'm bouncing around."

With less than 48 hours to go until the NBA's noon deadline on Feb. 7, Russell has made a compelling case for league-wide interest. In 32 games, he's averaging a career-high 23.9 points, while shooting 38.3 percent from 3-point range. Along the way, Russell has garnered interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves, who have been vying for his services since he chose to sign a max contract with Golden State last summer. In recent days, Minnesota reportedly has been trying to acquire additional assets to help facilitate a trade for Russell with the Warriors, but to no avail

Russell is no stranger to movement. After spending his first two professional seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Even after being named an All-Star last season, he was sent to Golden State in a sign-and-trade for Kevin Durant. Now, a day before playing his former team, he says he isn't concerned with the unavoidable trade rumors.

"Why not put me in those talks and try to get me?" Russell rhetorically asked. "So, I understand the business side of what's going on. It's not nothing new that I've been through. I can't lie and say I don't see it. I obviously see it. I got to answer questions about it, I got to see it on social, I got to turn the TV on and hear about it. So, it is what it is."

The 23-year-old has yet to find a permanent home during his career, and recently said that he wouldn't mind staying in the Bay Area long-term, citing Golden State's culture.

"Of course," he told NBC Sports Bay Area in December. "It's where I'm at now. Wherever I'm at now, I would want to be there long-term."

"I just think the quality of people," Russell added. "It's great people around here. They've been accustomed to winning, they're accustomed to bringing good people in. They just feel super jolly."

More than a month later, he repeated that sentiment in front of a crowd of reporters.

"I'm where my feet are. I'm here right now," Russell said. "No telling where I'll be in the next few. So, wherever I go, my feet will be there and I'll just embrace it and make the best out of it."
