Draymond ‘can't sleep' as Klay's long-awaited return nears

Draymond Green was up early Saturday morning ahead of Warriors practice, posting on his Instagram story that he couldn't sleep as Klay Thompson is expected to be cleared for his first game since the 2019 NBA Finals.

"I don't expect y'all to understand. I'm ready to go to practice," Draymond declared at 5:04 a.m. as the Warriors prepare for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Chase Center.

The Warriors are expected to practice around midday Saturday, and coach Steve Kerr told reporters after Thursday's loss to the New Orleans Pelicans that director of sports medicine Rick Celebrini would make a decision then on clearing Thompson. The team had the day off Friday after returning from New Orleans.

Thompson has not played in a game since tearing his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, and subsequently later tearing his Achilles in November 2020.

Draymond and the rest of the Warriors seem just as excited as Dub Nation about Klay's return, and all signs point to that day finally arriving in a little over 24 hours.
