Draymond discusses Hall of Fame aspirations; ‘not done yet'

Draymond Green has won three NBA championships, an NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and has two All-NBA honors in his nine-year career.

Green, a Saginaw, Mich. native, was asked by NBC Sports Bay Area's Kerith Burke about former Detroit Pistons star Ben Wallace being among the finalists for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, and discussed his own aspirations for one day being enshrined.

"I still gotta keep building, I'm not done yet, so I got some years left to try and do some more things and hopefully add on to that resume," Green told reporters Friday. "But I really wanna make the Hall of Fame, that's for sure, obviously that's one of the greatest honors in our sport, I mean any sport, to make the Hall of Fame.

"I don't live every day like 'man, I wonder if they looking at me today, I wonder if they feeling it today' I just kinda go about my day. But definitely hope to do that one day."

Wallace won four Defensive Player of the Year awards during his 16 years in the NBA, and made five All-NBA squads. He also helped lead Detroit to a win over the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2004 NBA Finals, winning the series in five games.

Green, like Wallace, doesn't stuff the stat sheet with points, but he does so many of the little things that don't show up in a box score.

Draymond has been one of the NBA's top distributors so far this season, ranking seventh in the NBA in assists per game with a career-high 8.4.

Hall of Fame candidacy is evaluated based on a number of factors, but Green's three championships and consistent place over the past few years as one of the league's top overall defenders stand out on his resume.

Hopefully for the Warriors, Green still has plenty of career left in front of him and like he said, chances to continue to add to that career list of accolades.
