Warriors’ Draymond Green formally signs four-year contract extension

There won't be a “will he stay or will he go?” narrative with the Warriors this upcoming season.

All-Star forward Draymond Green was set to hit free agency next summer, but the five-time All-Defense selection has signed a four-year contract extension with the Warriors, the team announced Saturday night. Multiple league sources confirmed to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole that the contract is worth $100 million.

The extension brings Green's total contract to five years, $118 million.

Green’s extension pays him $22.2M, $24M, $25.8M and $27.6M over the course of the deal. The Warriors will have $129M and $138M committed to their four max players — Curry, Thompson, Green and Russell — in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, respectively.

Following the departure of Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, DeMarcus Cousins and Shaun Livingston this offseason, the Warriors are looking to reload around their core three of Green, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, as well as new addition D'Angelo Russell.

With all four now under contract for the foreseeable future, the Warriors can focus on putting the right pieces around them in order to contend for championships for the remainder of their primes.
