Warriors lose to Wizards in 4 games in 2K League Finals

There are now three different teams which can call themselves NBA 2K League Champions. Unfortunately for Warriors Gaming Squad, they are not that third team after losing in the NBA 2K League FInals to Wizards District Gaming on Friday.

After finishing the regular season with a 13-3 record and easily advancing through their first two playoff matchups, the Warriors were rolling heading into the Finals. However, the Wizards were riding a wave of momentum that was too much to overcome for the Warriors.

The Wizards finished the season with the same record as the Warriors at 13-3, but after shocking the league by taking out undefeated Raptors Uprising GC, it seemed as if WDG were playing with a confidence that couldn't be matched.

Warriors Gaming Squad did jump out to a quick series lead after cruising to a Game 1 65-53 win. Warriors point guard CB13, who found out just before the game that he did not win the NBA 2K League MVP Award, came out hot with 40 points in the first game of the series.

That, however, seemed to wake up the Wizards and it went downhill for the Warriors from there.

The Warriors lost the next three games, something many would not have predicted before this series. WGS has been one of the best teams all season long and to beat them in three consecutive games in a best-of-five series is an incredible accomplishment by the Wizards.

The Wizards took out two teams in the playoffs many would consider the best in the league. Wizards District Gaming had a tough road to the title and now they get to call themselves champions.

For the Warriors, it's a crushing defeat. This marks the second consecutive year WGS has made a deep run into the playoffs without being able to come away with the title.

Warriors Gaming Squad will be back. There's no doubt this team is talented. As long as they can keep the core group of guys together this offseason, they have the pieces to make it right back to the Finals next season.

Hopefully by the time next season begins, life returns to some type of normalcy and we get to see teams in the NBA 2K League face each other in person, like in seasons past.

Regardless of in-person or remote, Warriors Gaming Squad has proved to be one of the best teams in the league, but they just ran into a hot Wizards team.
