One of the most revered figures in Warriors franchise history is being recognized this, as Al Attles will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday.

Attles spent the past six decades working with the organization, starting as the team’s point guard in 1960. After 12 years as a player, Attles served as the team’s coach before transitioning into a front-office role and becoming an ambassador for the franchise.

“I feel tremendous, this is a very, very nice honor,” Attles said on Thursday. “I really appreciate what these people have done for me and I hope can continue doing what I do for them.”

Attles is part of a 12-person class being inducted with the 2019 class, including former Kings forward and current general manager Vlade Divac.

“Having been married to the organization for more than 54 years, it's time,” Attles’ wife, Wilhelmina said. ”It’s really a dream come true.”

Attles' No. 16 is retired by Golden State, and in 2014, Attles received the John W. Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hall of Fame. This is the highest honor it bestows outside of induction.

The 2019 enshrinement ceremony will be broadcast on NBA TV beginning at 3:30 p.m. PT on Friday afternoon.
