Warriors coach Brown enters COVID protocol; Atkinson returns

Chiozza and Brown

The Warriors have three players in the NBA's health and safety protocol, and they have added assistant coach Mike Brown to the list.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters prior to the team's game against Memphis Grizzlies at Chase Center on Thursday that Brown won't be on the bench after entering the health and safety protocol.

Brown joins Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins and Damion Lee in the protocol.

While Brown won't be in attendance Thursday night, first-year Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson will return to the bench against the Grizzlies after missing almost two months with an unspecified leg injury.

The Athletic's Anthony Slater reported on Oct. 29 that Atkinson sustained a leg injury during a workout.

Kerr also said he doesn't expect any of the three players in the protocol to be cleared in time for the Warriors' Christmas Day road game against the Phoenix Suns.
