Warriors draft pick Moody thankful for Hardaway welcome message

The Warriors will be hoping for similar luck with No. 14 overall pick Moses Moody as it had in 1989, when the organization selected Tim Hardaway at the same slot. The five-time All-Star delivered a nice video message to Moody, wishing him well and welcoming the Arkansas product to the Warriors.

"You're with a great organization, the people here, the fans in the Bay Area is gonna welcome you with open arms," Hardaway said. "Just come out here and do your best and believe in yourself and have confidence in yourself."

The Warriors were thrilled when Moody fell to them at No. 14, and general manager Bob Myers admitted after the draft that the team considered using the seventh overall pick on the 19-year-old.

A tenacious defender and talented shooter, Moody was one of the best freshmen in college basketball last season, helping lead the Razorbacks to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament.

Moody and No. 7 pick Jonathan Kuminga will be joining a Warriors roster eyeing a return to championship contention right away next season with Klay Thompson expected to return sometime early in the 2021-22 season.

The Warriors will be hoping Moody's rookie season can generate similar production to Hardaway, who was named a first-team All-Rookie in 1989-90.
