Warriors move Weems to player development in coaching maneuver

It has been an offseason of changes on the coaching staff for Steve Kerr and the Warriors, and Golden State made another switch-up Friday.

The Warriors moved Santa Cruz Warriors head coach Kris Weems into a player development role on Kerr's staff. Seth Cooper has been named the new head coach of the Sea Dubs.

After losing Jaron Collins, the Warriors hired former Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson to fill the role at the front of the bench. The Warriors also brought in Jama Mahlalela and Dejan Milojević in player development roles.

"The guys we brought in are full of ideas, full of things that maybe I haven't thought of," Kerr said in July on 95.7 The Game about his staff changes. "Things that will maybe look different structurally within our staff but also strategically with our team. I think we need that.

"I think every organization has to do that. I just don’t think you can do the same thing over and over again and expect to grow. That’s what this is about and that’s what we’re trying to do -- create some change and maintain our culture.

"We don’t want to change who we are but we want to think about our tactics and think about how we can get better.”
