SACRAMENTO -- Red Panda, the female unicycle acrobat often seen performing at halftime of Warriors games at Oracle Arena, is getting a big assist from the team.
The Warriors are replacing her customized 7-foot unicycle, which was stolen last week at San Francisco International Airport. The theft was captured on video, but the suspect remains at large and the unicycle had not been returned.
A $2,000 reward is being offered for the return of the original unicycle, which has a reported value of $25,000.
Red Panda’s act features her riding the unicycle and tossing bowls that she then balances on her head.
“She’s been part of this league for a long time,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Friday. “She was doing her show when I was playing.
“It was a really cool gesture from our organization and, hopefully, she gets the specs just right.”
A new unicycle won’t have the same sentimental value as the one Red Panda has owned for more than 30 years, but it’s a nice offer by the Warriors.
