Warriors' pledge to arena workers reportedly expected to surpass $1M

The Warriors are stepping up to the plate in a time of need.

Golden State announced Friday night that ownership, players and coaches are donating a combined $1 million to a disaster relief fund through the Warriors Community Foundation to assist Chase Center employees who are out of work amid shutdowns because of the coronavirus.

But it sounds like the total contribution will be even higher. As Marcus Thompson of The Athletic writes:

One source said the Warriors ownership put up “well more than half of the money.” And the collections from players and coaches still aren’t all accounted for yet, so the final total is expected to be more than $1 million.

In addition, Steph and Ayesha Curry are helping out in a big way via their "Eat. Learn. Play" foundation.

Awesome stuff all the way around.

Stay safe out there, everybody.
