Steph picks one word that describes Klay perfectly

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson have been through a lot since they became Warriors teammates in 2011.

The Splash Brothers had the growing pains of learning to win in the NBA. Then they were by each other's side when the Warriors blossomed into a dynasty in 2014. They've experienced the highs of winning NBA titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018 and the lows of the 2016 and 2019 NBA Finals losses.

No matter what they've experienced over the last decade, nothing has been harder for Curry and Thompson than the last two and a half years. Thompson has missed the last two seasons after first tearing his left ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals and then tearing his right Achilles on Nov. 18, 2020 as he was nearing a return from the ACL injury. It has been an emotional 29-plus months for everyone involved.

Over the last two years, Curry has had a front-row seat as Thompson works his way back towards a highly anticipated return to the Warriors' lineup.

During an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area's Kelenna Azubuike prior to the season, Curry was asked to pick the characteristic that best describes Thompson.

"He's relentless," Curry told Azubuike. "He has a knack. He's obviously himself no matter what. He has a joy for the game, a competitiveness. He's a gamer, obviously, but he shows up everytime he's out there on the floor. He makes an impact and he does it in a very unique way with that relentless nature. No matter what the task is, he's ready for it. You just love it when he's locked in, especially on both ends of the floor. Like, there's not too many two-guards in the history of the game that have done it like he has on both sides [with] that level of skill and impact."

Thompson is nearing the finish line of his recovery and he hopes to return in a few weeks or a month. It's that relentless attitude that has fueled the strenuous rehab, and it's that same mindset that will allow the three-time NBA champion to get back to an All-Star level when he steps back on the court.
