Tip-off time for critical Warriors-Grizzlies finale set

There will be much at stake on Sunday during the final day of the NBA regular season, and the Warriors will be right in the middle of it.

With Sunday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies deciding who will be the No. 8 and No. 9 seed in the play-in tournament, the NBA has announced Thursday that the game will tip-off at 12:30 p.m. at Chase Center.

The only way the Warriors can lock up the No. 8 spot prior to Sunday's game is for the Grizzlies to lose both Thursday and Friday's games against the Kings and for the Warriors to beat the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.

While the Kings still have a slim chance at earning the No. 10 spot, the Grizzlies should be able to at least split the back-to-back and set up a winner-takes-the-No. 8-seed game Sunday against the Warriors.

Earning the No. 8 seed is of paramount importance due to the play-in tournament.

The No. 8 seed and No. 7 seed will play with the winner earning the No. 7 seed in the first round. The loser of that game then will play the winner of the No. 9 vs. No. 10 game, with the winner securing the eighth and final spot in the first round.

Getting the No. 8 seed assures the Warriors that they won't face a win-or-go-home game right off the bat, and gives them the opportunity to only play one play-in game should they defeat the No. 7 seed.

A lot will be on the line Sunday at Chase Center, and now we have a tip-off time.
