SAN FRANCISCO -- Mired in their longest losing streak since 2012, the Warriors will try to end it Tuesday night by beating the team that started it.
The Dallas Mavericks made their first visit to Chase Center on Dec. 28 and rolled to a 141-121 victory that snapped the Warriors’ four-game win streak and initiated a losing skid that now is up to eight.

It’s the first of a three-game homestand this week, as the Warriors (9-32) try to regain some of the rhythm lost due to an assortment of injuries and lineup changes over the past two weeks. It has been 10 seasons since they lost nine in a row.
Dallas (24-15) has endured a few challenges since that Dec. 28 win in San Francisco pushed its record to 21-10, a season-high 11 games over .500. Forward Kristaps Porzingis has missed the last seven games, during which the Mavericks went 3-4. ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported earlier Tuesday that it's "more likely" Porzingis returns Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings rather than Tuesday.
With Porzingis’ availability Tuesday uncertain, Dallas could start Delon Wright at guard, with Tim Hardaway Jr. moving to small forward. Another option is inserting Maxi Kleber at power forward. Both Wright and Kleber have made starts in Porzingis' absence.

ROTATION OUTLOOK
Mavericks: If Porzingis is ruled out, it seems the logical move would be to start Wright at shooting guard, with Hardaway moving to small forward and Finney-Smith to power forward. It’s a small lineup, but it’s sound for matchup purposes. ... Doncic posted triple-doubles within three quarters in each of the first two games against the Warriors this season. He has 11 and leads the league in that category, two ahead of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James. ... Luka’s 29.1 points per game are particularly impressive considering he averages only 32.9 minutes a night. ... Seth Curry has been the Mavericks' biggest scoring threat off the bench. Stephen’s younger brother is averaging 10.2 ppg and is shooting 39.2 pct. from beyond the arc. ... The Mavericks enter Tuesday having made at least 10 3-pointers in 27 consecutive games, the third-longest such streak in league history. They made a franchise-record 24 in their last win over the Warriors. ... The Mavericks are 18-3 when they shoot at least 45 percent from the field, 0-7 when held below 40 percent.
Warriors: The roster will be particularly fluid this week. C/F Marquese Chriss is expected to re-sign, this time on a two-way contract. Such contracts became available to NBA teams last week. ... In the six games, all losses, since the calendar turned to 2020, the bench has averaged 48.3 points per game, ranking fourth in the NBA. ... In two games against the Mavericks this season, the Warriors allowed a total of 283 points and Dallas accounted for two of its franchise-record three games with at least 140 points. ... Before losing the last three meetings against the Mavs, the Warriors prevailed in 19 of 21 games between the teams. ...
