Warriors waive three after final preseason game; roster at 17

Axel Toupane

The Warriors made an announcement Friday morning that was expected.

Golden State waived Dwayne Sutton, Axel Toupane and Kaleb Wesson, cutting the roster down to 17 players.

The expectation is that all three players will end up playing for the G League Santa Cruz Warriors, but things can change.

Wesson -- a 6-foot-9 big man who went undrafted out of Ohio State -- appeared in all three of the Warriors' preseason games.

Toupane, who played in 21 games with the Denver Nuggets back in the 2015-16 season, saw action in two contests.

Sutton, meanwhile, caused quite the stir on Twitter when he posterized Kings forward Robert Woodard II on Tuesday night.

The Warriors over the next couple of days will trim the roster down to 15, with many believing shooting guard Mychal Mulder will snag the final roster spot for Opening Night.

Nico Mannion already signed his two-way contract, and is eligible to suit up for 50 of Golden State's 72 games. It won't be a surprise whatsoever if Juan Toscano-Anderson ultimately grabs the second two-way deal.
