What Kerr believes Dubs need from Poole in Steph's absence

Someone will have to step up for the Warriors in Steph Curry's absence.

That player might just be Jordan Poole.

In speaking with reporters before Golden State's matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night at Chase Center, Warriors coach Steve Kerr was asked what the team will need from Poole as the fourth-year guard will start in place of Curry, who is expected to miss multiple weeks with a lower-leg injury.

"We don't need anything special, we just need him to be solid and to play his game," Kerr said. "He's obviously going to play more minutes and he'll be at the point more often, so he's going to run the team and get us into our sets and be solid. That's enough.

"Without Steph, as long as we're playing with pace and the ball is moving, we can get a lot of good shots. We'll rely on Jordan to help us do that."

Curry is expected to be sidelined until after the NBA All-Star break, which means Poole will start in place of the two-time MVP for at least the next five games and likely a handful more depending on Curry's recovery.

The Warriors don't need anything special from Poole, who can help keep the team afloat by just being himself.
